The new AirPods reinvent wireless earbuds. As soon as you take them out of the charging case they are ready for your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.
For the first setting just a tap, then everything works like magic: they turn on automatically and always stay connected, they understand when you wear them and pause when you take them off.
If you want to adjust the volume, change songs, call or even get directions, say "Hey Siri" and then ask. You can wear both AirPods or just one, and to play a song or podcast or skip to the next, just double-tap.
The AirPods offer 5 hours of listening1 and 3 hours of talk time on a single charge.2 And they're made to go everywhere: the case allows you to recharge them multiple times, for a total of more than 24 hours of listening.3 Need a recharge on the fly. ? 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening4 or 2 hours of talk time.5
Thanks to the brand new Apple H1 chip, the AirPods earphones know when you are wearing them, because the optical sensors and motion accelerometers detect contact with the ear. The H1 chip automatically activates the microphone and can route audio to both earphones or just the one you are using. And when you talk on the phone or with Siri, a second accelerometer for voice recognition works alongside the beamforming microphones to block out background noise and emphasize the sound of your voice.
